Itinerary

Days 1-2 Livingstone to Kafue River.
Today we have the chance to sample some of Livingstone’s activities and see the Victoria Falls before we move on. The following day we continue north, pausing at the Kafue River for a cruise and a rewarding cultural visit to a local village.
Days 3-5 Lusaka to Lilongwe, Malawi.
Our epic journey continues, taking us through the Zambian capital Lusaka before we reach Malawi, nicknamed the ‘warm heart’ of Africa, where we check out the capital Lilongwe.
Days 6-8 Lake Malawi.
We reach enormous Lake Malawi, Africa’s third largest lake and home to numerous fish species. Here we camp on sandy beaches, relax and enjoy swimming in the inviting fresh water. There are several optional activities to try here, and we will also get to meet some of the famously friendly locals too!
Days 9-10 Lake Malawi to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
We continue north into Tanzania, passing by Mikumi National Park before reaching the Indian Ocean coast and port city of Dar es Salaam. ‘Dar’ is Tanzania’s main commercial centre and the jumping off point for Zanzibar - the exotic and evocative ‘Spice Island’.
Days 11-13 Zanzibar.
After catching a ferry to Zanzibar we have three nights to enjoy at our leisure. Zanzibar was once an important trading centre and a staging post for the slave trade. The island offers a blissful mix of bustling markets, winding alleyways and charming palaces as well as sparkling ocean waters and idyllic stretches of palm-fringed sands.
Days 14-16 Dar es Salaam to Arusha.
We catch a ferry back to ‘Dar’ and head inland, where if the weather permits we may see the enormous snow-capped Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak. We pass through some remarkable Tanzanian countryside as we make our way to the country’s ‘safari capital’, Arusha.
Day 17 Arusha.
Today we can meet the slithering inhabitants of the Meserani Snake Park, and make friends on a guided walk to the local Maasai village, where we can learn about their traditional local culture.
Days 18-20 Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha.
We switch to 4x4 vehicles for an unforgettable 2 night/3 day safari to Tanzania’s premier wildlife destinations, the Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater. Game viewing is unrivalled here and camping out on the plains is a truly memorable experience.
Day 21 Arusha to Nairobi, Kenya.
We depart Arusha for our final drive north across the border into Kenya, where our African odyssey ends.
