Itinerary

Days 1-3 Nairobi, Kenya – Great Rift Valley – Maasai Mara.
We depart Nairobi for Maasai Mara, Kenya’s premier game reserve. It contains an array of wildlife amidst beautiful surroundings, including Africa’s ‘Big Five’.
Day 4 Nairobi to Arusha, Tanzania.
Next we cross into Tanzania and head for its ‘safari capital’ Arusha, where we can haggle in the local markets, see some of Africa’s most feared snakes and visit a local Maasai village.
Days 5-7 Arusha – Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Crater.
We switch to 4x4 vehicles for a 3 day excursion to the Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater.
Days 8-9 Arusha to Dar es Salaam.
After time to replenish stores in Arusha, we drive in the shadow of mighty Mt. Kilimanjaro across Tanzania to Dar es Salaam.
Days 10-12 Zanzibar.
From ‘Dar’ we catch a ferry to exotic Zanzibar, renowned for its lush tropical forests, rich history, and white sandy beaches bordering the tropical Indian Ocean.
Days 13-15 Dar es Salaam to Lake Malawi.
Returning to the African mainland, we drive southwest via Mikumi and the Tanzanian highlands towards Malawi, the ‘warm heart of Africa’, making for the massive lake which dominates the country.
Days 16-19 Lake Malawi to Lilongwe.
We spend a couple of relaxing days by the beach to enjoy Lake Malawi’s clear waters and learn about the lakeside culture of fishermen and traders. There are also water-sports and activities to try before we move on to the Malawian capital Lilongwe.
Days 20-21 Lilongwe to Lusaka, Zambia.
Crossing the border into Zambia, we drive via rural regions and the Luangwa River to Lusaka.
Days 22-25 Livingstone.
We arrive at our riverside camp near Livingstone and the magnificent Victoria Falls. Here we can fully explore the ‘Falls’ region – relax and take in the natural beauty or try some adrenaline pumping optional activities such as white water rafting, bungee jumping and gorge-swinging!
Days 26-27 Livingstone to Chobe National Park, Botswana.
Once in northern Botswana we visit Chobe National Park. Well known for its large herds of elephant as well as lion and abundant birdlife, here we have opportunities for game driving and a relaxing cruise.
Days 28-30 Chobe National Park to Okavango Delta.
Leaving Chobe, we drive via Nata to Maun – gateway to the Okavango Delta. We explore the Okavango on foot and by dugout canoe (mokoro) and camp in the wild for a unique wilderness experience.
Days 31-32 Ghanzi to Windhoek, Namibia.
From Maun we travel west via Ghanzi, where we join a local guide for a Bushmen walk. Crossing into Namibia we briefly stop in its capital Windhoek.
Days 33-34 Windhoek to Etosha National Park.
North of Windhoek we reach Etosha National Park, where the arid terrain contrasts nicely with the East African parks. The game viewing includes some great night viewing at a floodlit watering hole next to our camp.
Day 35 Etosha National Park to Spitzkoppe.
Turning south we travel into Damaraland and camp among the massive rocky outcrops at Spitzkoppe.
Days 36-37 Swakopmund.
We continue to the vibrant coastal resort of Swakopmund, where time is ours to relax or choose an optional activity – why not skydive and take a bird’s eye view of the Namibian coast!
Days 38-39 Swakopmund to Namib Naukluft Park.
Next we visit the world’s oldest desert in Namib Naukluft Park, home to huge sand dunes which tower up to 300m over flat valley floors and dried lake beds.
Day 40 Fish River Canyon.
We check out the geological marvel that is Fish River Canyon, a gorge to rival America’s Grand Canyon.
Days 41-42 Fish River Canyon to Western Cape, South Africa.
Onwards we travel to South Africa and after a night on the banks of the Gariep River, we pass in to the fertile Western Cape region.
Day 43 Cape Town.
On our final day we visit a local township before finishing our epic journey in beautiful Cape Town.
