39 Day Ultimate African Adventure

Itinerary

Days 1-2 Nairobi, Kenya – Nakuru National Park – Eldoret.

Our fantastic trip departs Nairobi for Lake Nakuru National Park, world renowned for its flamingos and other birdlife, before continuing to Eldoret.

 

Days 3-5 Kampala, Uganda – Queen Elizabeth National Park – Lake Bunyonyi.

We cross into Uganda and the capital Kampala, from where we head to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Here we game-drive in search of Uganda’s natural wildlife, before tracking chimpanzees at Kyambura Gorge. We continue to the rural south-west of the country and our camp beside Lake Bunyonyi.

 

Days 6-9 Gorilla Trek to Kampala.

Here local guides can lead us on an unforgettable optional trek for a one-hour ‘audience’ with a family of wild mountain gorillas – it may prove demanding but the rewards can be truly memorable.

 

Days 10-12 Kampala to Jinja.

We continue to Jinja, near the source of the River Nile, where there is the opportunity give something back by assisting a local charity in building and improving community schools, as well as time to relax and enjoy some great optional activities.

 

Days 13-15 Jinja to Nairobi, Kenya.

Back in Kenya, we return to Nairobi where we can explore the city.

Note: In Nairobi the price of accommodation on nights 14 & 15 is not included. You can choose between camping (for approximately US$5 per night) or an upgrade.

 

Days 16-18 Maasai Mara to Nairobi.

From Nairobi we visit Kenya’s best-known game park, the Maasai Mara National Reserve. The ‘Mara’ is renowned for its incredible variety of wildlife (including all of the ‘Big Five’).

 

Day 19 Nairobi to Arusha, Tanzania.

We cross into Tanzania and make for Arusha, the country’s safari base, where we have chance to browse the markets, check out a snake enclosure and visit a local Maasai village.

 

Days 20-22 Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha.

Continuing our big game theme we take a three day 4x4 safari to the Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park (including Olduvai Gorge). The wide Serengeti plains and deep Ngorongoro Crater provide stunning backdrops to some unforgettable wildlife encounters.

 

Days 23-24 Arusha to Dar es Salaam.

Heading south through Tanzania we pass snow-capped Mt Kilimanjaro en-route to the busy port of Dar es Salaam.

 

Days 25-27 Zanzibar.

From ‘Dar’ we catch a ferry for three nights on Zanzibar Island - relaxation at its finest! Explore fascinating ‘Stone Town’ or simply lie on sublime beaches and swim in the blissfully warm tropical waters.

 

Days 28-30 Dar es Salaam to Lake Malawi.

After a night back in ‘Dar’ we drive across Tanzania, travelling past Mikumi National Park to Chitimba in Malawi.

 

Days 31-33 Lake Malawi.

We take our time beside Lake Malawi, stopping at shoreline beaches to swim, snorkel and perhaps even scuba dive in the inviting fresh water.

 

Days 34-36 Lilongwe to Lusaka, Zambia.

After visiting the Malawian capital Lilongwe, we cross the border into Zambia.

 

Days 37-39 Lusaka to Livingstone.

Next on the agenda is Livingstone and Victoria Falls, a truly memorable stopover. The ‘Falls’ continually perform one of the greatest displays of nature in Africa.
