Itinerary

Map of Reef Suntanner Reverse

Day 1 Cairns.

Travel one of Australia’s most scenic coastal drives to the Daintree region and meet the traditional custodians of the region, the Kubirri brothers of the Kuku Yalanji tribe. They’ll show us traditional spear fishing and teach about their culture. (D)

Day 2 Cairns.

It’s reef meets rainforest in Cairns. Plenty of optional activities to choose from, including diving or snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef. (B)

Day 3 Cairns to The Whitsundays (Sailing).

We head to Airlie Beach today, passing through Townsville. Step aboard our maxi-yacht and tonight you’ll gaze upon the stars from the deck and enjoy the relaxed vibes. (B)

Day 4 The Whitsundays (South Molle Island).

Today get ready to chase the sun over the shimmering ocean. We'll take in beautiful beaches, snorkel through colourful reefs and get a taste of tropical living. Weather permitting; we'll visit Whitehaven Beach (the whitest sand you've ever seen) and Blue Pearl Bay. Then we plot a course for nearby South Molle Island, our home for the next two nights – take a turn on the helm if you're up for it! (B, L, D)

Day 5 The Whitsundays (South Molle Island).

Back on dry land, explore the idyllic surrounds of South Molle: feed the Rainbow Lorikeets, go snorkelling or swimming, even a quick 9 holes of golf if you feel the urge (own expense). There's plenty of bushwalking tracks available, with scenic views of the Whitsundays and 17 (count 'em) private beaches if you want to get away. A walk up “Spion Kop” is a must. (B, D)

Day 6 The Whitsundays to Emu Park.

Our short morning ferry lands us back into Shute Harbour and head for Rockhampton (or “Rocky” to its mates), Beef Capital of Queensland. Tonight make the most of the locals’ hospitality as we tuck into a ‘Reef & Beef Dinner’, right by the ocean in Emu Park. (B, D)

Day 7 Emu Park to Kroombit Park, via Rockhampton.

This afternoon we head “bush” to our working cattle station, for a taste of “Outback Hospitality”. Along the way we stop at the “Cattle City” of Rockhampton (known as “Rocky” to the locals). (B, L, D)

Day 8 Kroombit Park to Noosa.

Try your hand at a goat rodeo or maybe an outback quad bike ride before heading to the beach side town of Noosa. (B)

Day 9 Fraser Island.

Today we visit the world’s largest sand island, and a UNESCO World Heritage-listed site, Fraser Island! We’ll take a 4-wheel drive tour and guided rainforest walk followed by an Aussie barbecue on the banks of stunning Lake McKenzie. (B, L)

Day 10 Noosa to Gold Coast.

Travelling down the Bruce Highway, we drive passed the Glasshouse Mountain range en route. There’s an option to hop off at Australia Zoo on the way. In Brisbane we’re off for a cruise along the famous Brisbane River. (B, D)

Day 11 Gold Coast.

The spectacular Gold Coast awaits – the day is yours to see firsthand why the local Surfers Paradise beaches are so famous – maybe a swim, a surf or an optional visit to one of the many theme parks or even visit the amazing Hinterland. Here we say our goodbyes after breakfast (B)

Please note this trip forms part of the Island Suntanner Reverse, days 1 - 11.
