Itinerary

DAY 1 Launceston to Cradle Mountain
Start our trip off in stunning Cateract Gorge, just over the hill from the centre of Launceston, and marvel at the clear blue water. Ride the chairlift if you’re up for some great views. Then travel to Cradle Valley, one of highlights of any Tasmanian visit. Entrance to the untouched western wilderness, your guide will help choose the afternoon’s activities – walk around Dove Lake or trek up to Marion’s Lookout. For something less strenuous, take in a short stroll through towering pine trees and Tasmanian fauna.
DAY 2 Cradle Mountain to Strahan
You’re standing in one of the most beautiful, untouched natural settings anywhere in the world, Cradle Mountain. Take the opportunity to walk around and drink it all in – either to Marion’s Lookout or around Dove Lake. Then in the afternoon we head west to Ocean Beach, and climb the towering Henty sand dunes – that rather stiff breeze is known as the Roaring Forties. Tonight we finish up in Strahan and enjoy a locally caught seafood BBQ. (B, D)
DAY 3 Strahan to Hobart
We zoom across Tasmania today, visiting several spots of great natural significance. First on the menu is Australia’s deepest freshwater lake, Lake St. Clair. Then we follow the Derwent River along its journey through the Derwent Valley, stopping in at Mt Field National Park and the charming Russell Falls. Then it’s not far to our final destination, Hobart, passing through the town of New Norfolk. (B)
Please note that this trip forms part of the Tassie Unplugged trip, days 4 - 6.
