Itinerary

Day 1 Launceston to Bicheno.
First up is Cataract Gorge, a beautiful spot in the heart of Launceston. Then it’s off to the east coast and the Bay of Fires. Tonight you’ll get up close and personal with the local penguins as they come ashore for the evening (optional in season).
Day 2 Bicheno to Hobart via Freycinet National Park.
We’re up early for Wineglass Bay. Take some time out on the secluded beach or tackle the hike up Mt Amos. In the afternoon we travel to the historical village of Ross and a quick stop at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary where we’ll meet some Tasmanian Devils. (B)
Day 3 Port Arthur.
Our first stop today is the colonial village of Richmond. We spend the rest of the day at Port Arthur, a former penal colony and now a World Heritage-listed site. Take part in a guided walk and harbour cruise. (B)
Day 4 Hobart.
Take the day to explore Hobart at your own pace. Visit the controversial Museum of Old and New Art or perhaps indulge your shopping bug around the Salamanca precinct. For the more adventurous, experience the Mt Wellington descent or kayak down the Derwent River. There’s even guided walking tours around the city if you’re up for it!
Day 5 Hobart to Strahan.
From Hobart we travel through the Derwent Valley to Lake St Clair, Australia’s deepest freshwater lake. From here it’s not far to the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park. Finish up the day in Strahan for a barbecue with our hosts. (D)
Day 6 Strahan.
Today is a free day! Visit Ocean Beach and the Henty Sand Dunes, take a stroll along the harbour, or visit the nearby temperate rainforest for the chance of a waterfall sighting. (B)
Day 7 Strahan to Launceston via Cradle Mountain.
Today we journey to Cradle Mountain Tasmania’s best known National Park. Time to explore the northern end of this park before we head to Sheffield “the town of murals” then onto Launceston, where we say goodbye. (B)
