Itinerary

Day 1 Alice Springs to Kata Tjuta & Uluru.
Our first destination is the Outback Camel Farm, where these gentle giants are available to ride (optional). We then head to the wondrous Uluru (Ayers Rock) for lunch, before travelling to nearby Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) – these stunning rock formations make for a beautiful landscape, which we’ll take in on the Valley of the Winds trail. Then it’s back to Uluru to watch the vivid sunset that will change the rock’s colour, truly one of the highlights of any Outback trip. Get comfortable in your swag (Aussie bedroll) as we sleep under the stars. (L, D)
Day 2 Uluru (Ayers Rock) to Kings Canyon.
It’s an early start today, in order to catch the exquisite sunrise over Uluru. This is definitely one for the tick list. While we’re all feeling energetic, we’ll take a base tour of the monolithic landmark. Get an insight into the traditional owners of the land, their customs and their ancient stories at the Cultural Centre – there are also some impressive examples of Indigenous arts and crafts available for purchase. There’s time for lunch, before we travel to our exclusive campsite within the surrounds of Watarrka National Park, best known as Kings Canyon. (B, L, D)
Day 3 Kings Canyon to Alice Springs.
Prepare for some serious walking today, as we’ll be on foot for most of the day! We cover the short distance to Watarrka National Park (home of Kings Canyon) and begin travelling up the towering sandstone cliffs – from up here it’s a spectacular view of the surrounds. We’ll complete the rim walk into the centre of the Canyon and the start of proceedings at Kings Creek. Along the way expect to see verdant plant life, azure water holes and rocks shaped by the elements over millions of years – it’s a place that sums up all that is great about the Red Centre. We head back to the station for lunch before our Outback drive to Alice Springs, where our journey ends. (B, L)
A sleeping bag is required for camping in the Northern Territory. Bring your own or hire one locally for AUD$20.
