Trip Overview

TRIP VIBE = iconic sights and in-depth adventures with a local Trip Leader. The pyramids, the Sphinx, the Nile... they’re all here. But where are you? You’ve seen them in books. You’ve seen them in documentaries. You’ve seen them in movie after movie after movie. But experiencing them in real life = a whole different level of AMAZING. Ancient, archaeological and wall-to-wall ICONIC, this sure as hell isn’t your average holiday. But then – you’re not your average traveller.

Worth noting…
Psst! All our Egyptian Topdeck Trip Leaders are qualified Egyptologists. Meaning? You’re gonna have more fact-filled days than you can poke a mummified finger at. This trip includes an overnight stay aboard a traditional felucca sailing boat – don’t forget to pack a sleeping bag. Sweet!

Important note on Ramadan

As many Middle Eastern countries are of Islamic faith, it is important to note many restaurants and shops will either be closed or operating on reduced hours during Ramadan. As a result, some optional and included activities on your trip may be affected. Ramadan, which dates vary depending on your year of travel, is an incredibly important and sacred month for Muslims. When equipped with some basic knowledge, you’ll have the chance to immerse yourself in this special tradition and experience all its highlights.

Felucca Sailing

Feluccas are traditional wooden sailing boats that have been used as transport up and down the Nile for centuries. Meaning? No motors. No cabins. No hairdryers. The boat’s broad canvas sails offer shade and protection from the elements by day. And by night, we’ll sleep outdoors on comfy mattresses – so don’t forget a sleeping bag. And for other... things? DW there’s toilets and somewhere for you to freshen up on board. All meals are prepared by the felucca crew aboard the boat.

During winter months it can get cold on the river, especially at night. So, it’s a good idea to bring a jacket or warm windcheater during these months.

The Top Deck Delve Deep Egypt Tour was a trip of a lifetime. The price for what was included was remarkable, and the sensationally knowledgeable tour guide we received for the trip really took the trip to the next level. The hotels were all clean and safe, the hotel staff were lovely, and the hotel food was divine. The local cuisine was incredible and i miss it dearly!

The locations and attractions we visited were truly breathtaking, the fact that Top Deck was able to organise for us to see and do so much in such a short amount of time is truly amazing. The entire trip ran smoothly and according to plan.

Our sensational tour guide Mohammed Ali was fluent in English, Arabic and also Italian. His knowledge of not only the sites we visited but also Egypt as a whole was astounding. Mohammed was friendly, respectful, caring and had great communication skills.

If I were to return to Egypt I would request Mohammed as my tour guide and I would complete another Top Deck Tour again.

As I say goodbye to this remarkable country, I just want to take a moment to appreciate how magnificent it is.

A country so culturally rich and diverse, where you can experience the city/desert/ocean/greenery all within 1 short holiday. A country full of hidden treasures and incredible food everywhere you go. A country who despite its economic struggles, continues to grow and develop. A country full of the most beautiful and kind people, who value and appreciate tourists, and who for the most part just want to hear about our country and hear us speak.

I cannot recommend Egypt more highly to anyone wanting to delve in to a country so beautiful as it is diverse.
