Two Topdeck buses from 1983

The Topdeck Story.

24 Jan 2020

Ever been held up in traffic or crushed up against some random on a bus and let your mind wander to the ‘what if’? What if I was in Europe right now? What if I sold everything and just took off? What if I had the freedom to travel where I wanted, when I wanted? Where would I go?

Trust us, you’re not alone. At one point or another, we’ve all been there. And none more so than Topdeck’s founding-father Graham ‘Skroo’ Turner – the only difference is, he actually did it and built a pretty successful business from the ‘what ifs’ (if we do say so ourselves).

Spending Your Orphan Christmas With Topdeck

20 Dec 2019

For many, Christmas is a time filled with friends and crazy family members – and a lot of the season revolves around spending time with them (whether we like it or not). But what happens if your people live on the other side of the world? Or your friends flee the city to be with their own? Or you just wanna escape and do something different this year? What is to become of the solo-Christmasser?

Nick is a man who’s been there, done that and got the dodgy Chrissy jumper to prove it. As an ‘Aussie in London’ with all his family back Down Under and friends-with-plans, Nick decided that rather than spending his Christmas eating Co-op ready-meals and watching re-runs of Love Actually, he’d sign up for Topdeck’s 4 Day Bruges Christmas trip. So, if you’re like Nick and facing the prospect of popping a Christmas cracker with yourself (sad), here are few reasons from the man himself why a Topdeck Christmas trip might be your saviour.

5 of the world's most eco-friendly cities

27 Dec 2019

We all know that we should be doing our bit for Mother Nature because, let’s face it, we’ve given her a bit of a battering over the last few centuries. It’s never been more important to keep an eye on your carbon footprint, and little changes can add up to make a big difference. However, no matter how green you pride yourself on being; when you’re off on your travels, it’s easy enough to let your eco-friendly habits slide – not when you’re exploring these cities though!

We’ve put together a list of the world’s most eco-friendly and environmentally conscious cities, where it takes more than a few re-usable bags to earn your eco-warrior badge. Hey, who knows, maybe you’ll take home a few tips to help you keep your little patch of the world sparkling!

5 things to do in Europe during winter – that aren’t Christmas markets!

25 Nov 2019

Ahh, winter. The arrival of its shorter days and frosty morning heralds the countdown to the festive season and begins a time when we start reflecting on our year as it draws to a close and, hopefully, start looking forward to the next! There’s nothing like it and I’m not ashamed to say I love it! Sure, summer has its charms: light evenings that turn into balmy nights and sun-drenched days which give you the excuse to head to a beer garden at 12pm (obvs). But there’s plenty to be said for winter too… cosy evenings, roaring fires, fuzzy jumpers AND (best of all) that hard-earned summer body can take a back seat in favour of drowning in hot-chocolate and stuffing yourself with pigs in blankets!

Love it or loathe it, if you live in the Northern Hemisphere at least, the cold season is here for the next few months. Fancy embracing the magic of winter but not into Christmas markets? Despair not! We’ve put together a list of some of our fave things to do if you happen to be on the continent during the chilly winter months – and there’s not a Christmas market in sight *gasp*.

29 Jan 2021

✨’Shut up, I’m manifesting’✨

You might have scrolled past the memes or seen the tutorial videos – manifestation is the latest wellness craze doing the rounds on socials.

Manifestation is the belief that positive thoughts = positive experiences. Rhonda Byrne’s book The Secret brought the concept to our TikTok feeds. It’s about how to apply the law of attraction: turning positive thinking into legit life changes.

Now, we’re all for channelling good vibes, but sometimes even the universe needs a little help to get sh*t done. So here’s our six-step guide to help you manifest that immense Euro/North American/Asian trip you’ve been dreaming of.
