Feel the first blast of Moroccan sunshine as you spot your Topdeck Rep outside the arrival terminal (hint: they’re holding a placard with our logo on it), then brace yourself for Casablanca’s mix of sparkling waters, palm-fringed avenues, street art and colonial buildings. Yep you’re finally here. Dump your stuff at the hotel, meet your fellow explorers and get pumped for our first group dinner. Name a better way to start the trip.

Brilliant blue buildings. A maze of narrow alleyways. And authentic local vibes. We’ll get our bearings on a stroll with our Trip Leader, then choose to tuck into dinner at a local restaurant with the gang or head off and do your own spontaneous this-is-what-I-came-for thing. Glue your face to the coach window as we take the scenic route to Morocco’s sacred heart: Moulay Idriss. This place is considered to be so holy, it was pretty much inaccessible for non-Muslims until 2005. Meaning? It's the definition of off-the-beaten-track. Take in the relaxed local vibe on an orientation walk – before we tuck into a DE-licious home-cooked lunch with a local family. Then: put on your archaeology hat, ‘cos we’re off to Volubilis to check out the Roman ruins with a local guide. Want more history? Good! Tonight we’ll be heading deep into the heart of old Morocco on our journey to Fes.

Visit a local tannery (hint: say yes to the mint, you’re gonna need it). Or hunt down a hammam for a body shine and polish. It’s a tough life. After a free morning in Erfoud, we’ll make our way into the sandy abyss – stopping at the dunes of Erg Chebbi before reaching our isolated desert camp*. Merzouga looks as if it might be engulfed by the surrounding dunes at any moment – so sit back and enjoy the view. Later, you can jump aboard Alice the camel for a sunset joy ride to remember. Tonight, we’ll gather round the campfire and dig into a traditional dinner with the gang. This is what you came for. *Reality check: we’ll be staying in modest tents whilst in the Sahara. With a 3D landscape of imposing orange sandstone peaks, trickling streams and the odd camel playing outside your window, this place will take your breath away. Then: yell lights, camera, action as we roll into ‘Ouallywood’. The sprawling Taourirt Kasbah of Ouarzazate has played backdrop for plenty of big-budget blockbusters – try and name them as we walk around with our in-the-know Trip Leader. The trip was very well organised and executed perfectly! Our trip leader Kalid was incredible! He knew all the locals which made us feel safe and assured everywhere we went. Kalid was so well organised and gave us plenty of warning of when we might need to tip, cover up, or anything else that might impact our enjoyment.
Couldn't recommend this trip or leader enough.
Only thing I would suggest...

This trip was amazing! I loved all the stops/cities we visited. Chefchaouen in particular because other tours I considered didn’t include it. The only thing I would change is having more time in the Sahara, we really only had one afternoon there since we had to leave again early the next morning. I would’ve preferred another day or even leaving later in the day the next day so we could have...
Beau Ba October 2024
Nacer was a great tour guide, very friendly and always available 24/7 in case you need anything. The only thing I would change is having 1 extra free day in the Sahara
Anonymous September 2024
The tour gives you a really good snapshot of what Morocco has to offer, you hit a lot of the main tourist spots. There is a lot of driving but the itinerary does pre warn you.
Mikayla Ta June 2024
The trip itself including destinations visited and accomodation is the only thing I would recommend. Topdecks communication, preparation and app were poor at best and our guide lacked basic things that I would expect including carrying out a head count (he went to leave twice forgetting someone and only stopped when someone in the group noticed people were missing), communicating the schedule for...

I had a great time! Morocco was great and I saw a lot of unique things. Our guide Said was amazing! He was so patient and really went above and beyond and he booked for us some really cool experiences that I doubt that I would've done otherwise.
Elizabeth St April 2024
Was super happy with the whole trip, had an amazing group and tour guide Mouna. The Sahara was a highlight for sure. Some of the accomodation could have been better. The desert camp and the stay the day before the desert were exceptional. The accomodation in Chefchauoen was great too. Our guide was super informative and interacted really great with the group.
Nicole Di March 2024
Trio was great and very fun, some scheduling things that felt like we travelled more than saw things although I guess that’s to be expected.
Grace December 2023
Amazing trip! Couldn't fault it at all. Our tour guide Jaouad was friendly and very informative. Our coach driver Khalid was always happy to help and really put the icing on the cake when, at the end of the trip, he bought us all a model of a small camel as a souvenir!
The accommodation was much better than expected, certainly comfortable enough for a night or two. The range of cities we...

Good value for money - some of the accomodation was lacking in facilities which made the stays slightly uncomfortable. No one was expecting 5 star accomodation, but a couple of nights the accomodation would be generous to get a two star. On the days where the lunches are non-negotiable, it would be easier to have them included in the cost of the tour.
Blake Hu November 2023
The food, the Medina's, the dessert, the scenery, the culture, the people and `Mo our guide. All of it and so much more was amazing. Could not recommend highly enough going to Morocco with Topdeck!

Morocco is amazing!!!!
The tour/trip was so-so. I believe the review is impacted by the tour guide, so you may have a better experience with a different guide.
The below is based on my trip, and I ended my trip just before the earthquake in September 2023.
Items to be aware of when booking the trip.
- it’s a lot of driving! I would say almost half the trip is driving! This is a country I...

Fantastic trip through Morocco, our guide was amazing and always ready to help everyone out with additional activities.
Chefchaouen, the Medina of Fes and the Sahara were highlights. The camel ride at sunset and then climbing the dunes for sunrise is something I will never forget.
Too many good moments to mention, highly recommend this trip if you are interested in North Africa.

An absolutely incredible trip through a beautiful and diverse country!

Exactly what I was looking for. Perfect balance of cultural experiences, fun with the group, and quiet time to explore or rest. And the tour guide, Fouad, was phenomenal!

Pros: Amazing food experiences! The best part was getting invited to homes of local families and experiencing amazing home-made local cuisine. They were so warm and friendly and hospitable! One of those nights even ended in garbing traditional attire and dancing!
Cons: We spent way too much time travelling from one place to another on the bus. We were running behind on most activities daily.

Morocco is a beautiful country and I felt completely safe with the tour!

Idk how this is different than what I created above.
Anonymous October 2022
Once arrived, the trip went smoothly. If there were anything I could suggest it’d maybe be an extra day in the desert to relax and appreciate the surroundings. Apart from that, it covered everything I wanted, and went for the perfect amount of time.
Momil Si October 2022
Thank you Hicham and Topdeck! I would have never experienced Morocco the same if I did a solo trip. Sharing the meals and camel rides with other travelers really made the experience beyond 5 stars!
Highlights; camel ride in the Sahara desert, starry nights, amazing tagine and comfortable roadtrip across the High Atlas and making numerous stops to see the culture in between!

i think it's a great set of locations to experience many sides to morocco, immersing oneself into local cultures and witnessing the beautiful sights on offer
also was the perfect trip length, not too exhausting but long enough to become attuned

Such an amazing trip! You get to see so much within the 10 days, that you wouldn’t normally see on your own. The Sahara desert was the best part. Would highly recommend this trip to anyone!

The value for the price of the trip was excellent. All the accommodations and covered meals were amazing, and I feel Topdeck did an incredible job with their Morocco tour.

Morocco was beautiful. The people on the tour were friendly and all round wonderful. Our guide, Fouad, was knowledgeable, and cheekily and gently pushed us all a little outside of our comfort zones at points. He was funny and cared for us when there was some illness.
As my first Top Deck experience, it was fantastic and I will be doing another Top Deck soon because I enjoyed this experience so...

Really good trip that was thoroughly enjoyed however the price for this trip in 2022 was twice the price as the same trip that was initially booked for 2020 which was cancelled due to the pandemic

Everything was good minus the heat! Although we would prefer mire variety of food selections in chosen restaurants, like the one in Hotel Chergui. We were tired of tajine by the end of the trip

This trip was one of the best things I have ever done. Everyday we remarked how well planned it was and how lucky we were to be seeing Morocco this way. Each stop is more amazing than the next, and the local tours with local guides were the perfect way to get introduced to our new surroundings. Doing Morocco with topdeck is perfect and having an amazing tour guide such as Adil made the trip even...

I am very happy with the tour overall and liked that I could see a little bit of each city. I feel like I got a well-rounded view of Morocco. However, I felt that the day in Fes was a bit rushed and that we were just taken to different places and exploited for our money. We were taken to several different shops and learned a lot about the different products they sell in the markets, but ultimately...

My Moroccan Explorer trip was an incredible adventure. Ever since I watched Casablanca as a teenager I’ve wanted to explore this amazing country and I can certainly say that cities such as Marrakech and Fes exceeded my wildest expectations. The camel ride through the Sahara, though... Wow! Just wow! It was a bucket list item for me and I almost cried when I saw the sun set and rise over the dunes.

FAQs
Many restaurants and shops may be closed or operate on reduced hours during cultural events. This could impact some optional and included activities during your trip. These events, which occur on varying dates depending on the year, are an incredibly important and sacred time for Muslims. With some basic knowledge provided during your trip, you’ll have the opportunity to learn more about these traditions and experience their unique highlights.
After arriving at Casablanca Airport, head outside your arrival terminal to find your Topdeck Rep – they'll be holding a Topdeck sign.
In Moroccan culture, tipping is standard practice. Your Trip Leader may suggest a tipping kitty, where everyone contributes an equal amount (typically 400-600 MAD per person). This is then used to tip local guides, hotel staff, and other included services during your trip. To note: this excludes restaurant tips for meals planned outside of Your Inclusions. Participation in the tipping kitty is not compulsory and is at your discretion. Tips for your Trip Leader are excluded from the tipping kitty – these are already covered as per Topdeck's policy.
The currency in Morocco is the Moroccan Dirham (MAD).
Absolutely! It’s a requirement that all Topdeckers have comprehensive travel insurance to cover the likes of cancellation, personal injury and medical expenses. You’ll be barred from travelling with us without it. It’s also super important you read the fine print of the policy you’re taking out, so you know exactly what activities you are covered for (looking at you, adrenalin junkies!) and what your excess limits are in cases of emergency – before, during and after your trip. As a rule, you should book your travel insurance at the time of booking your trip.
Obtaining the correct visas for your trip is your own responsibility. Not having correct visas could mean missing out on part (or all) of your trip. Ask your travel agent or check with the appropriate embassies before you depart, remembering that visa requirements can change at short notice.
Please note: For most countries where visas are required, it's NOT possible to obtain a visa while on the trip. Some visas take 3-4 weeks to obtain – so get on it early!
Whist visiting some destinations, sights and attractions, it is customary to cover your shoulders and knees as a sign of respect. It’s a good idea to pack T-shirts, long pants or long skirts for when this is required. Your Trip Leader will advise you well in advance when you will be required to cover up.
